No more! As I wandered Conan yesterday, I glanced down and...there they were!! Now, the only question is, where were they when I was looking for them months ago??? No one knows...
I used one of them today to stir my butter into my fresh, homemade popcorn :)
So, you were wanting to read about cats? Well, there are three main types of cats that I know...
1. The wild ones. They apparently have no owner, but at least one person in the neighborhood feeds them regularly and sometimes people capture them and take them to the vet to get fixed, then release them again. I spend a decent amount of time trying to pet them. The only time I succeeded was with this one cat that was too comfy in its sunshine to move. Otherwise, as soon as they realize that I'm not going to feed them, they high tail it out of there.
| This is a sort of nature area near my house where the cats get fed. They like to chill here a lot. |

There hasn't been much of a problem with cat fights so far, but I'm kind of nervous that I won't be getting any sleep when mating season starts. The only time they've been noisy so far was the day I had to get up really early to go to Hokkaido anyway, so I didn't mind it too much, but I would have been deeply distressed if I was still trying to sleep.
2. The one's at Conan or other pet stores. These are all purebreds and cost sooooo much money. Seriously, it's not even funny. The thing is, they're all bored out of the skulls in the tiny pet stores cages, so they just sleep all the time. So they're pretty to look at, but don't strike me as the type to come home and play with me.
3. LOL cats! http://icanhascheezburger.com/ is one of my favorite websites. I mean, who doesn't like cute cats with funny quotes??? Bonus points if you know all the song/movie/TV show references!

I think it would be really nice to have a cat, but I'm gone so much of the time. During the week the absolute best a cat could hope for is maybe 4.5 - 5 hrs from when I get home from work to when I go to bed. Two days I'm guaranteed to be gone until 9 or 10, so that's zero amount of time to play with any pets. So no kitties for me.
I almost had one for awhile, though. I was out walking and I met this little cat, maybe 6 months old. Way to friendly to be wild, but clearly on his own. Since his eyes were a bit matted and nasty, I figured his owners had probably just thrown him out, instead of, you know, caring for him and making him better. This is a pretty big problem. At home we got so many cats that people would dump along the road because they were sick or defective somehow. So I thought it might be something like that.
He was super friendly and I was going to take him home and eventually take him to the no-kill animal shelter, but he didn't want to be picked up and stopped following me after awhile, so I had to leave him. I was sad :(
He looked a bit like this:
